Hello everyone! Tonight I'm back with part two, my thoughts on the new FingerPaints treatment line. I'm going to try to keep these short and to the point. Let's get started!
Dry to the touch in one minute
Definitely hardens the nail. Perfect for those with thin really weak nails.
If you have dry brittle nails (like myself) you might use this once every few days. I wouldn't use it more than that for fear of my nails becoming overly hard and potentially having a nail snap off. *cringe*
This one is definitely meant for those with thin super weak and super bendy to the point of weakening and ripping.
Gel like base coat
This one took a little over a minute to be "touch dry"
I like this one a lot. It's nice and thick without being too thick, almost syrupy but not stringy if you apply it in the three stroke method, if that makes sense. I change my polish so often that I can't really give you a wear time on this one. The strugggleeeee for me is real you guys. Sorry lovelies!
Grab it base coat
Dry to the touch in a little less than a minute! It's definitely slightly sticky. One of the first I wanted to test ! I tested this one out on my kiddo. She prefers to wear the hell out of a mani. She's 14 and super proud of her manicured fingers. She got a fresh mani on sunday the 15th, 4 days later and her mani was still looking great. I only had a split second to give them a look over before she hopped out of the car for school. Her mani included Grab it base, 2 coats of color, stamping, topcoat. I wish it had been longer but 4 days is a pretty good start imo.
Smooth over Ridge filler
Dry time was around a minute and a half, I touch tested at a minute and had slight finger prints that almost totally self leveled back out, I didn't touch very hard to begin with or anything just an observation lol. I don't have very many ridges, but from looking at how it sits on the nail I think it would be perfect for someone with slight ridges. If your nails have ridges that are deeper you might need two coats. This dries in the same milky shade as in the bottle making it great for a matte natural nail look.
Gel like top coat
Dry to the touch in ughhhh.... Definitely not a fast drying topcoat, not that it ever claimed to be. Fast forward 15 minutes... If I pressed hard enough I could still slightly dent it. It's glossy and slightly thick like gel but the dry time is killer, I've heard worse horror stories already.
The first time I tested this I had no issues. It dried rock hard in 5 minutes. I'm not sure if it's issue is certain polishes or body chemistry. Or even room temperature, so frustrating.
Does this one work with stamping? I was asked to try this out and my results were: No, it definitely pulls the image causing streaks.
Well there are some definite hits and misses. I'm super sad about the dry time of the gel topcoat because the base coat is good. I hope I see others be able to work with it in hopes that maybe I just got one of the bad bottles. My faves are the Gel Like Base Coat & the Grab It base coat.
I hope you found this post helpful.
Unit next time!

FingerPaints can be found at your local Sally Beauty Supply store or online here.
*Disclaimer
I did not take photos of the treatments on the nail because it would literally just be some shiny naked nails for the most part.
I did try all of the treatments and these were my results on my nails. Oh and also one on my kiddo! Everyone's body chemistry is different and results may vary.

Hard as steel sounds good for me! I have super bendy nails. We don't get Finger Paints here though. Perhaps you can use the gel top coat to make decals :)
ReplyDeleteUgh so sad that you don't have access to FP. Over all they're fairly nice. Oh yes I will definitely try it for decal making. Excellent idea!
DeleteThanks for the info, I was was mostly interested in the top coat but a top coat that's not dry in 15 minutes is not ok.
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed for sure. I was excited about it because I love topcoats! Lol. :(
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThe base coats look great! I think I'll stay away from the top coat. Great review!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely! Lol
DeleteThe gel top coat for decals is a great idea! I was going to say, I hate when a topcoat or any polish is disappointing but it does happen! But at least that could be a great use! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know what I'll be using my bottle on. I'm not the greatest at decals so this should be amazing practice!
DeleteGreat review! I've wanted to try several gel like top coats but I just can't wait for them to dry so I stick to quick dry top coats.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! I like to try them all too. Im sad this one wasn't up to par. It could have been amazing.
DeleteI have one gel - like top coat and I"m meh about it. I feel like its a hard thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found a good one yet. FingerPaints soak off gels are great. But I don't always want to wear a soak off gel mani.
DeleteGreat review! Thank you for your honest opinions!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try my best to keep it simple and to the point as well as always 100% honest. No time for sugar coating here. :)
DeleteI definitely have to stick to a quick-dry top coat. I manage to derp up my manis otherwise!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fast dry top coat girl as well.
DeleteLove your in-depth reviews like this, it's always nice to hear what to not buy so I don't have to waste time or money.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy them! I feel the same, I love when I know what to stay away from. No need to be wasting hard earned money!
ReplyDeleteI have these but have only tried the Grab-It base coat so far!! I love FingerPaints and they always put out great products! I'm excited to try the gel - like top coat but I'm a mom so I need a fast drying one, if you know what I mean, haha! Would be useful for smoothing out glitters, I guess!!
ReplyDeleteThese sounds great! Thanks for experimenting for us!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good to know how you got on with these - once I find what works for me I stick with it fairly religiously.
ReplyDeleteI wish more companies would make a moisturizing treatment for brittle nails. mine tend to snap off, which is why I'm not a fan of strengthening treatments anymore. The ridge filler sound like it might be good for me, though, my nails have thick, high ridges.
ReplyDeleteI looked for these at sallys today but I didn't find them :(
ReplyDeleteI have yet to find a 100% successful gel like topcoat - they all seem to take forever to dry!! Thanks for this review!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! Now I know not to waste my money on the topcoat. Shame it takes so long to dry.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna have to try that strengthener...I have two nails that always wanna cause me problems. :)
